University Certificate in Spare Parts Inventory Management
We have now updated the information on the award of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours. In addition to achieving a Kansas University Certificate, people who complete this program will be able to claim CEUs and, depending on which professional body you are a member of, up to 40 CPD hours.
US Federal Employee Discount
We have also now confirmed that US Federal employees (government and military) qualify for a 10% discount on the university course investment.
MRO Conference in Brisbane, Australia
The MRO Conference in Brisbane is now scheduled for 20/21 September 2018. The conference was postponed after some of the key participants, separately, suffered injuries preventing their attendance (including my broken ankle!). We are all now ready to go and the conference is locked in!
Complimentary Online Mini-Course
Recently we launched a new online mini-course: An Introduction to Spare Parts Inventory Management. This course introduces the concepts and critical thinking required to identify, analyse and solve spare parts inventory management problems. The course is delivered online over a period of two weeks and successful completion is acknowledged with our mini-course certificate.
IBM Buys Oniqua
Recently it was announced that the computing giant IBM has purchased the software company Oniqua. The media release quotes IBM as saying that the goal is to combine IBM’s Maximo offering with Oniqua’s software and in doing so connect the data.
As I see it, there are several problems with this strategy and they are all to do with the implicit assumptions that are required if you want to rely on mathematical optimization. I understand the attractiveness of this type of software, however, I encourage you to read the above references before making any type of optimization software investment.
